Agent: Reid Eagles' Head Coach For As Long As He Wants

PHILADELPHIA -

As the Eagles continued training camp at Lehigh University this weekend, head coach Andy Reid was back in the news.

This time it was for some comments his agent made.

It seems agent Bob LaMonte has started a push to get Reid a contract extension.

LaMonte told reporters that Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie had assured him Reid could remain head coach of the Eagles as long as he wanted to.

Just two hours after that, however, Lurie issued a statement which read in part, "As much respect as all of us have for Andy Reid, it is the nature of the profession that all coaches, executives and players are evaluated each year."

Reid's contract runs through the 2013 season.

Lurie said following last season that he thought long and hard before bringing Reid back for this year.

Was this too soon for a discussion of Reid's contract, less than a week after funeral services for his oldest son?

Mike Missanelli from 97.5-FM "The Fanatic" joined "Good Day" Monday morning to talk about Reid's future.
