FREEPORT, N.Y. (AP) -- A Long Island man has been charged with operating a boat while intoxicated.

The Nassau County police marine bureau reports that Thomas Heslin of Levittown was operating a 2000 Donzi in the Woodcleft Canal in Freeport without navigation lights. Police say he was pulled over to Marine 20 for an inspection of the vessel when police discovered he was intoxicated.

Heslin was charged with operating a vessel while intoxicated and several navigational law violations.

He is to be arraigned Monday. It wasn't immediately known if he has a lawyer.
