The Miami Dolphins have released WR Chad Johnson nearly 24 hours after he was arrested in a domestic battery case involving his wife.

Johnson, 34, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, has been charged with domestic violence.

Johnson's wife Evelyn Lozada, a star on the reality TV show "Basketball Wives," accused him of head-butting her during an argument in front of their Florida home.

His attorney said an order has been issued that prevents Johnson from contacting his wife.

The six-time pro bowler is out of jail on 2,500 bond.
