A man riding a dirt bike motorcycle was killed when a police vehicle ran him and another passenger down in the Bronx Saturday afternoon.

Police say 26-year-old Adalberto Gonzalez and another unidentified biker ordered food at Reyes Produce on Randall Avenue and Faile Street in Hunts Point when a police car approached them.

The officers saw Gonzalez operating the dirt bike without license plates or a helmet and was traveling south bound on Manida Street, according to police.

Police say they did not try to stop Gonzalez but a short time later witnessed Gonzalez had stopped at Randall Avenue and Faile Street.

Authorities say when one of the officers approached Gonzalez again, this time on foot, he runs from the officers heading west bound on Randall Street towards Coster Street.

Gonzalez then jumped onto the back seat of another unregistered Honda dirt bike operated by 28-year-old man. The unidentified driver took off and a police car pursued the bike traveling westbound on Randall Avenue before it struck the bike from behind, causing the both men to be ejected off of the bike around 12:26 p.m.

EMS arrived to the scene and took the driver of the dirt bike to Lincoln Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gonzalez was arrested at the scene and treated by EMS for minor cuts. He faces multiple charges including Reckless Endangerment and Resisting Arrest.

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
