Posted: Updated:

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is backing Republican Mitt Romney's choice of Paul Ryan for Vice President.

Christie said the "Romney-Ryan team is uniquely positioned to make tough choices necessary to confront our fiscal challenges and gets results."

Ryan is a congressman from Wisconsin and chairman of the House Budget Committee.

The governor who had been constantly mentioned as a possible running mate for Romney also said the addition of Ryan to the GOP ticket makes "a team that understands the economic stagnation our country has been facing the last four years and the urgency with which we need to change course."
