TROY, Mich. (WJBK) -

Troy Police say they are confident that the 55-year-old Patrick Mikes, Senior was murdered by his oldest son, 21-year-old Patrick Mikes, Junior.

They have been waiting for DNA results and conducting a thorough investigation with help from multiple law enforcement agencies.

The DNA results and other evidence point to the blood of Mikes, Senior and Mikes, Junior and were found in the basement of their home where police say a violent altercation took place.  Police also believe a struggle ensued between the two and Mikes, Senior was killed as a result of blunt force trauma.

"On Wednesday, August eighth, based upon the review of the evidence presented, representatives of the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office authorized the request for an arrest warrant charging Patrick Joe Mikes, Junior, the victim's son, with homicide, open murder," said Captain Bob Redmond.  "Mr. Mikes was taken into custody this evening without incident and is being held pending an arraignment, which will take place at the 52-4 District Court tomorrow afternoon."

"I'd like to remind everyone that this remains an ongoing investigation.  Also that the body of Patrick Mikes, Senior has not yet been recovered and his bicycle still remains missing."

Police say Mikes, Junior was arrested while he was eating at a restaurant in Rochester Hills.

The search for his father will resume Thursday morning in the Montrose area at 7:30 a.m. Police plan to search through 4 p.m. with 35 officers, 12 K9 teams and several volunteer citizens.
