NORWALK, Conn. (AP) -

A 60-year-old Norwalk man was seriously injured after being jumped by a pit bull that police say had a history of biting.

Archie Hilliard of Norwalk was hospitalized with wounds to his left leg and arm after Monday evening's mauling.

Police tell the Norwalk Hour four different officers used their Tasers in attempt to subdue the dog, named Samantha, which had chewed Hilliard's ankle to the bone.

Samantha's owner, 33-year-old Nicole Hoyt, faces charges of allowing a dog to roam and owning a dog to create a nuisance.

Police say she was walking the dog, when it broke free and jumped Hilliard. The dog had been quarantined in July after biting Hoyt, and in May was stabbed after attacking another man.

Police planned to euthanize the animal.
