Man on fire outside burning house

MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities say firefighters responding to a burning house on Long Island found a man on fire on the lawn.

Neighbors in Middle Island told Newsday that they were able to extinguish the fire on the man. The unidentified victim was taken to a hospital. His condition was not immediately known.

About 60 firefighters responded to the Miller Place blaze at the one-story ranch-style house Tuesday night. The home was badly damage.

There were no other injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
