Residents of Bushwick, Brooklyn, say the neighborhood has been getting better. But an incident Tuesday where a guy allegedly unleashed two pit bulls on cops has many thinking twice.

Police sources said two plainclothes officers saw what looked like a drug deal going down on Himrod Street at Evergreen Avenue. They chased the suspect, who was on a bicycle, to a house. The next door neighbor says the people there have a reputation as troublemakers.

With cops on his heels, the suspect ran into the house. Moments later, according to police sources, another man came out with two pit bulls who rushed towards the officers.

Officers fired at the dogs, but instead one bullet struck the man.

Sources said the man suspected of dealing drugs tried to escape out the back, but was caught and arrested.

The wounded man was taken to Kings County Hospital and is expected to survive.
