Decomposed body found at a home where man hanged himself

Posted: Updated:

The decomposed body of a woman was found at a Queens home where a man hanged himself over two weeks ago.

Devendra Autar, 32, hung himself back on July 20 and left a suicide note saying "I'm going to go to hell for what I did," while his family didn't really know what the note was referring to.

Autar's brother, who is a policeman, arrived at the house at 97-26 Van Wyck Expressway around 11:40 a.m. Saturday to pack his brother's belonging when he smelled a stench in the attic.

The officer found a woman's body in a box.

The remains of the unidentified woman were taken to the medical examiner's office where a spokeswoman said the woman's death was a homicide, and that she died from stab wounds to the torso and neck.

According to the medical examiner, she apparently died around the time relatives of Autar found his body in the room he rented in the ramshackle three-family home.
