Teen claims police roughed her up over student MetroCard

A 15-year-old teen says she was roughed up and handcuffed by officers for looking too old to use her student Metrocard.

Alexis Sumpter said two plainclothes officers approached her at the 125th Street station on July 26 after she swiped her MetroCard and demanded to know her age. She told them she was 15, but that she had no identification because she was recently robbed of her iPhone and wallet.

Sumpter says one officer pressed her face against the wall and wouldn't let her loose even after she called her father, William, who confirmed her age as 15.

The Harlem Village Academies student wasn't arrested or given a summons during the incident.

Sumpter said she was released after her mother, Marisol, went to the station with her birth certificate.

The NYPD said they're investigating the incident.
