The Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall, a replica of the famous Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., is on display on Long Island through Sunday.
The wall is open to the public at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, a Vietnam War veteran, spoke at the opening ceremony Thursday night.
This replica wall, which is from Americans Veterans Traveling Tribute, is one of several replicas that travel the country.
It is an 80-percent scale replica of the wall in Washington and features all 58,000-plus names of the U.S. service members who died in the war or from injuries sustained in the war or remain missing in action.
