A Brooklyn man allegedly imprisoning a woman in his apartment for more than a month, police sources confirmed to Fox 5 News.

The NYPD says Anthony Matthews was arrested Wednesday after police, responding to a 911 call, found a woman with multiple injuries at Woodhull Medical Center.

Police sources told Fox 5 News that Matthews had tortured the woman with a hot iron and heated screwdriver and broke several of her teeth by shoving a gun into her mouth.

The victim was in the hospital's intensive care unit on Thursday.

The woman was held prisoner from June 29 through Monday. It was not immediately clear whether she had escaped or was freed.

Matthews, 31, is facing attempted murder, kidnapping, assault and weapons charges.
