A man drowned on the waters at Ideal Beach in Middletown, N.J., on Thursday afternoon.
Middletown Lieutenant William Brunt and Corporal Robert NcNair located the victim, Charles Henshaw, 46, from Belford, in the water. They were able to pull him to shore.
Monoc Paramedics and the Port Monmouth First Aid Squad treated Henshaw and took him to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, where he was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m.

A couple was found shot dead inside a park in Montclair, N.J. Police say they were responding to calls about shots fired when they discovered the bodies of Shanae Q. Howard, 24, of Orange and Brandon Brown, 26, of Montclair. The couple were found near a bench in Canterbury Park at around 10 p.m. on Thursday. A weapon was recovered at the scene.
