Man arrested for phony gift cards and skimmer

A Queens man has been arrested for gift cards that had been encoded with stolen account information from Bank of America.

Nassau County Police say Florin Ilea, 34. of 6122 Woodbine Street in Ridgewood was seen using an electronic skimming device from an ATM machine in the Astoria Federal savings Bank on 955 Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square.

Florin was arrested in Franklin Square on Wednesday at 10:40 p.m. 

Police say they found two American Express gift cards when they arrested him.

Florin is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and unlawful possession of a skimmer device.

He was expected to be arraigned in Hempstead on Thursday, August 2nd.
