The heavy rain has caused flooding in parts of the tristate area, especially in Queens.
Parts of the Grand Central Parkway, Long Island Expressway, Grand Central Parkway, and Van Wyck Expressway were closed for a while because of flooding, according to the city's Office of Emergency Management.
Some roadways were later reopened.
Local streets and driveways in Queens also were flooded.
The National Weather Service has issued Flash Flood Warnings, Flood Warnings, and Flood Advisories for several counties in the area.
