A call for a man who fell out of bed turned into a criminal investigation after it was discovered he had been stabbed.
It happened shortly after midnight on July 31. The New York State Police in Malone went to 2556 Chateaugay St. in Fort Covington to assist an EMS crew.
Wayne J. Henault, 64, was found with a small puncture wound to his back and transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center for treatment.
It was discovered that the wound came from being stabbed and Henault was taken for emergency surgery.
Police say that Henault and his live-in girlfriend, Joan F. Terrel, 64, were involved in a dispute when Terrel stabbed him with a knife.
Terrel was charged with first-degree assault and is jailed in Franklin County in lieu of a $10,000 cash bail.
