Eight prevention related health measures are now offered to 47 million women under the Obama health care law known formally as the Affordable Care Act.

The free services begin August 1 or at the individual's next insurance renewal date.

They include: gestational diabetes screening; domestic and interpersonal violence screening and counseling; FDA approved contraceptive methods, counseling and education; breast-feeding support; HPV DNA testing; sexually transmitted infections counseling; HIV screening and counseling and STI screening and support.

Several organizations, group health plans with 'grandfather' status and certain religious organizations have been allowed to opt out of the program.
