Neighbors say empty lot in Queens is a nuisance

Some residents of Whitestone, Queens, say that an undeveloped six-acre lot has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other creatures.

The developer, Whitestone jewels, broke ground on the land about 4 years ago when they planned to build more than 50 homes.

But they abandoned the project and the property is now going into foreclosure.

Someone from Whitestone Jewels said he has not been involved in the project for years and has no idea why the property has not been maintained.

The Department of Sanitation has cleaned around the lot, but told Fox 5 it is not allowed to enter private property.

The Department of Health sent an inspector there on Tuesday.
