WANTAGH, N.Y. (AP) -- Officials say a search is resuming for signs of a swimmer who disappeared off Jones Beach over the weekend.

The family of Raymond Roth of Massapequa told WCBS Radio that the 47-year-old man went into the water around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

They said he was swimming in calm waters outside an area patrolled by lifeguards. The family said Roth went swimming every day.

Park police described the air, sea and beach search as a recovery effort.
