The number of shooting victims is up over eight percent but murders are down by more than 16 percent in 2012, according to the NYPD.

Ariana Prince, 2, was shot in the leg Sunday night in a drive-by shooting at a park in The Bronx.

Her father and four other men were also shot and all were expected to recover.

NYPD officials told Good Day NY Tuesday the shooting was believed to be gang related.

There was a deadly shooting of a 23-year-old man Monday night in Flathbush, Brooklyn.

The victim was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg has spoken out calling for tougher gun laws.

Bloomberg said elected officials at the federal level need to enact laws that would prevent illegal guns from out of state from making their way onto the streets of New York City.
