Police arrested a man for robbing a Long Island McDonald's after he was spotted running across the 10 highway lanes to hide in a motel room.

Police say Craig Gernett walked into McDonald's on 499 Sunrise Highway at just after 1 p.m. on Saturday.

A witness saw Gernett crossing the highway and thought it looked suspicious.  They called police and notified them what room Gernett went into.

Police arrested Gernett at 1:37 p.m. and found some of the stolen money in his pocket.

Genett's last known address is a halfway house in Brooklyn.  He was also wanted for an escape warrant by the U.S. Marshals Service.
