Penn State says it has the finances to handle lawsuits stemming from its sex abuse scandal.

PSU President Rodney Erickson said in a broadcast interview that will air Sunday that the school has "adequate general liability coverage" and hopes to settle many of the lawsuits as quickly as possible.

The university's insurance company had been trying to deny or limit coverage for claims related to Jerry Sandusky.

Sandusky, the former assistant football coach, was convicted last month of abusing 10 boys over a 15 year period.
