Members of the MLK High School band will be performing on a world stage, during the Summer Olympics in London - a once in a lifetime opportunity!

"I'm smiling because this is an opportunity many people can't say they've been granted," said senior Anthony Frazier. "I'm taking full advantage of this."

For Anthony and many of his band mates, it's their first trip outside the US and it's a big deal. 50 band members and adult chaperones are on the trip. They raised about $280,000 for insurance, airfare and hotel rooms. There was a lot to pack and organize, including all the instruments.

"This is gonna be fantastic," said band director Victoria Miller. "It's just wonderful to see them get to go to another country and be exposed."

After some final preparations, snap shots with loved ones and lots of hugs and kisses, the group boarded busses with suitcases in tow. They plan to perform live in London in front of an international crowd, put a positive light on Detroit and do some sightseeing along the way.
