Police say a 21-year-old woman was killed when her car crashed into a pole on Staten Island early Saturday morning.

Officers were called to the location of College Avenue and Carolina Place in the Westerleigh section around 2:25 a.m. and found Christina Battimelli unconscious with trauma to her body.

EMS was called to the scene and took Battimelli to Richmond University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

According to the police investigation, authorities determined Battimelli was driving a Hyundai Elantra Westbound on College Avenue when she lost control of her car, clipped the back of a parked van and swerved across the two-lane road before crashing head-on into a telephone pole at the corner of Carolina Place.

Authorities say there is no criminality suspected at this time and there were no other people or cars involved in the incident.
