A NYPD veteran detective has been suspended without pay after a kidnapping victim was found tied-up in his garage in Queens Friday afternoon.
The NY Post says a source claims the 25-year-old victim was grabbed off the street on July 26 and brought to the home of detective Ondre Johnson. The same source said the kidnappers called the victims' friend and demanded $75,000.
The victim's friend went to the police and authorities traced the call to the detective's home.
Officers arrived at the Johnson's home at about 3:00 p.m. Friday. The detective answered the door and identified himself as NYPD detective.
Authorities said officers found the victim bound in his garage.
Johnson, a 17-year veteran of the Brooklyn north gang unit, and four other men were questioned along with his cousin and another man suspected of being involved in the kidnapping. Johnson was told to surrender his gun and badge pending the outcome of the investigation at the 113th Precinct in Jamaica by Internal Affairs and Queens Detectives.
Authorities nabbed four men involved in the kidnapping scheme.
30-year-old Hakeem Clark, who lives in the same building as Johnson, was charged with kidnapping and weapons possession with 27-year-old Jason Hutson and 27-year-old James Gayle. 24-year-old Alfredo Haughton was charged with kidnapping.
