Animal rescue group faces eviction from mall

MYFOXNY.COM -- Pets4Luv, an animal rescue organization, faces eviction from the Westfield Sunrise Mall in Massapequa, N.Y., next week.

The group's members fear they will never get a location like this one again but even worse they say they need immediate homes for the 50 cats and kittens and two dogs here.

The location was a temporary home for dozens of adorable cats and dogs. Pets4Luv opened there in February. Since then they have set up more than 160 cats and dogs with adopted and foster families.

But two and a half weeks ago the mall's management, which signed a temporary discounted lease with them, told Pets4Love half weeks ago that they had to go.

In a statement the mall said "The time has come to move forward with planned improvements to the shopping center and space is required for that work."

Pets4Luv Foundation says mall management did show them other space but then they receive the eviction notice which means they have less than a week to find homes for the animal.

Word of the foundation's plight has gotten out on social media, and some customers have been showing up at the mall to help.
