A woman fell 50 feet to her death early Friday morning at a scenic overlook near Port Jervis, N.Y.
The New York State Police says that Dominique Sylvestry, 26, of Yorktown Heights was sitting on the rock ledge along Hawk's Nest on State Route 97 in Orange County when she fell backwards.
She hit her head when she landed and died. The incident happened at about 2:50 a.m.
The location overlooks the Delaware River Valley. The Upper Delaware scenic byway location was originally built as a winding one-lane dirt road in 1859.
The City of Port Jervis and Sparrowbush Fire Departments assisted police at the scene with the recovery of Sylvestry's body.
