Tim Skubick: Describing Obama, Romney in just one word

Posted: Updated:

The assignment was simple: Come up with one word to describe Barack Obama and one word to describe Mitt Romney.

About 100 persons from a non-partisan special interest group were given the assignment and the answers would provide the launching pad for a discussion of the Michigan presidential sweepstakes.

Oh my.

Given the chance to unload on these two guys, many did just that.

"Fraud, dangerous, deceitful, ambivalent, trying" were some of the descriptions for the President.

Mr. Romney did not fair much better. "Moron, confused, slick, slippery, and jerk," were among some of the adjectives for him.

This was a college educated audience and some even had nice things to say about the two, but they were clearly in the minority.

The 50 who participated cued in on how the two candidates come across on the tube. Mr. Obama was "Self-centered, cold and phony" and one person concluded he "sucks."
Not noted for his warm and fuzzy demeanor, Mr. Romney was tagged with being "Stiff, bland, isolated and sneaky."

What was it your mother taught you, If you can't say something nice about somebody, don't say anything at all. Apparently these folks did not get the memo.

One person who was trying to obey his mom offered this safe response: Obama: President. Romney: Republican.

But the curious finding of the survey, what about the other 50 who sat in the audience and refused to play the game? Maybe they were asleep? Or maybe they just didn't care?

But they should.

Knowing all the readers of this blog, you will play the game. Remember one word for each and then if you must say more, fire away.
