A Long Island teen was hospitalized after being attacked at a basketball tournament.

Nassau County police say it happened Sunday at about 1 p.m. at the "War for Peace" basketball tournament in Roosevelt.

Detectives say the 16-year-old was watching a game when he was punched and then slashed in the face with a knife or box cutter.

Police say the teen was in a crowd of approximately 100 boys between the ages of 12-17 when a fight broke out around him.  Police don't know what caused the fight.

The teen had a laceration from his ear to his chin.

The tournament was being sponsored by the Roosevelt Lions Club in Centennial Park.

Police did not report any arrests after the incident.
