Gun arrest at Amtrak station

Police say they arrested a man suspected transporting guns from Georgia to New Jersey using the Amtrak train Friday. 

Detectives, officers from the Amtrak PD and NJ Transit Police stopped 40-year-old Leo Robinson of Newark outside of Newark Penn Station. He was found with three hand guns in his belongings. 

Robinson, who had several outstanding criminal warrants, had a Ruger 9mm pistol with a defaced serial number, a Ruger 9mm pistol reported stolen from Savannah, GA, a Taurus 9mm pistol, and five pistol magazines with numerous 9mm rounds.     

Robinson was charged with Unlawful Possession of Weapons, Possession of Weapons by a Convicted Felon, Unlawful Transportation of Firearms, and other weapon related offenses.  

He was placed in the Essex County Jail as he waits for a bail hearing.
