DETROIT (WJBK) -

The Junior Police Cadets Corps is a youth job program run by the Detroit Police Department for kids who want to make the city a better place.

But some of those kids are giving it a bad name after police sources say there were caught mugging people in broad daylight.

Sources tell FOX 2 that two teens, 16 and 17, are accused of snatching a phone and portfolio from a woman on the People Mover this week. Witnesses say they saw the boys running from the scene and alerted Transit Police officers.

The officers pursued the suspects and caught up to them at the Rosa Parks Transit Center where they were taken into custody.

No further details were made available.
