Tightrope walk planned above Atlantic City beach

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) -

The man who walked a tightrope wearing a harness across Niagara Falls last month is planning a walk above the Atlantic City beach without the safety device.

Nik Wallenda will make the 1,500-foot tightrope walk 100 feet above the beach on Aug. 9.

The Press of Atlantic City reports Wallenda hopes to complete the walk in 27 minutes, using only a 24-foot balance pole.

The walk will begin on Sovereign Avenue next to the Atlantic Club Casino Hotel and end at Tropicana Casino and Resort. That's where Wallenda and his family will perform later in the month.
