Baby with brain cancer

A little boy is in a battle for his life.

Eric James Baron was 10 months old when he was diagnosed with a tumor.  It was an aggressive and rare form of brain cancer.  Only about 150 children are diagnosed with the disease nationwide per year.

It is located in the center of Baron's brain, complicating its removal, according to Dr. Jeffrey Wisoff, the director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at NYU Langone Medical Center.

The NYU removed 98 percent of the tumor after chemotherapy was used to shrink it.

"15 years ago none of the children survived," Dr. Wisoff says.

After shrinking it with chemotherapy, the NYU team removed 98-percent of the tumor.

Baron remains in the midst of intensive chemotherapy and the bills are mounting.

The boy's parents, Eric and Lisa, have spent virtually every night at a hospital for the past 100 days.

In 10 days, their son will turn one year old.  His mom and day say the best gift for him will be that he becomes healthy enough to finally go home.

If you are interested in helping the family financially they have set up an account.

All donations in the form of checks should be made out to "Batting for EJ" and can be sent to:
