Washington State lets people register to vote on Facebook

Posted: Updated:
OLYMPIA, Washington -

Facebook status: registered to vote. And this time, it isn't "complicated" at all.

Facebook users in Washington state are getting an application that will let residents register to vote.

And they can even "like" the application and recommend it to friends.

An elections official says in this age of social media, using Facebook to help register people "is a natural way" to use the power of sites like Facebook to get more people registered.

The registration app is expected to launch as early as next week.
