Voltage reductions in some Manhattan neighborhoods

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (AP) - Consolidated Edison says it has reduced voltage by 5% in the Sutton Place and Midtown East areas of Manhattan.

A heat advisory remains in effect for the metropolitan New York City area on Wednesday. The utility says it's still OK for residents in the reduced-voltage areas to use air conditioners and other appliances.

The National Weather Service predicts highs near 95. The humidity will make it feel even worse.

Thunderstorms, mainly after 5 p.m., could include small hail.
