Sisters mowed down on Long Island street

Two teenaged sisters crossing Merrick Road in Massapequa were run down by another teen driving a Toyota Corolla late Tuesday.

The 13 and 15 year old sibling were rushed to a local hospital at about 8:30 p.m., according to police.

The older teen suffered severe head trauma and was listed in serious condition.

Her 13-year-old sister suffered leg injuries and was listed in stable condition, added police.

No criminality is suspected.

The 18-year-old driver passed a breathalyzer test, said Nassau County Police investigators.

The 2006 Toytoa Corolla will be inspected for potential brake and safety problems.
