Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a stabbing on Manhattan's East Side.

They say Sabatha Tirado, 25, was stabbed in the stomach after the attacker threw an unknown liquid in her face Tuesday morning.

It occurred as she was crossing the street near Second Avenue and East 86th Street.

The attempted robbery and stabbing happened around 10:30 a.m. on East 86th Street near construction for the 2nd Avenue subway. A construction wall partly shields the sidewalk from view.

Police arrested Curtis Forteau, 29, on assault charges as he tried to enter a homeless shelter.

Officials say Forteau tried to rob the woman and stabbed her when she resisted. He fled after the attack.

Florio was hospitalized in stable condition at New York Presbyterian and is expected to survive.
