A woman died in a crash on the New York State Thruway after attending an upstate music festival over the weekend.

Alisha Makepeace, 26, from Portland, Maine, was attending the Camp Bisco Music Festival with her friend, David Melnick, 26, of New Hampshire.

Makepace and Melnick were driving from the festival when witnesses report the car veered into a box guide rail.

The rail went into the car, killing Makepeace.   It also hit Melnick, who suffered a fractured leg and was transported to Albany Medical Center.

Police are investigating to see if drugs or alcohol may have been involved in the crash.
