Report: Knicks may not match offer sheet by Houston to Lin

New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin's career in orange and blue could only be 35 games.

"Linsanity" could be coming to an end.

There are multiple reports saying that Knicks have changed their plans and decided not to match offer sheet given to Lin by the Houston Rockets.

The reports say the Knicks have aquired former Knicks' point guard Raymond Felton and former Knicks' forward Kurt Thomas, who was a key member of the New York's Eastern Conference title in 1999, from the Portland Trailblazers in a sign-and-trade in exchange for Jared Jeffries and Dan Gadzuric.

It is unlikely the Knicks will carry three point guards, Felton, Jason Kidd and Lin, on their roster.

The Rockets' offer sheet for Lin is worth a little more than $25 million -- $5 million in the first year, $5.225 million in the second and $14.8 million in the third.

Initially, reports said the Rockets offered Lin a four-year deal for around $28 million. That deal included salaries of more than $9 million in each of the last two years, which would be a big hit on the Knicks' salary cap.

Lin took the city and the NBA by storm last season. The point guard out of Harvard had signed an offer sheet with the Rockets and the Knicks were expected to match that offer and re-sign him. Those plans may have changed course in a drastic way.

Fox 5 News reached out to the Knicks and they said they do not have an official statement on the Jeremy Lin situation at this time.
