One person was killed and another was injured in a single car accident in the Bronx.
Police say a Honda Accord was attempting to make a left turn onto Overing Street from East Tremont Avenue when it lost control and struck an apartment building shortly after midnight on Thursday.
The driver, a 40-year-old man, was pronounced dead at Jacobi Hospital. His passenger, a 30-year-old woman, is listed in stable condition.
Residents of the two-story building have been evacuated while the Department of Buildings assesses the stability of the structure.

West Side resident Matt Murphy has stored a pail of leftovers on his floor for the last two months. His building is part of the city's food-recycling pilot program. Mayor Bloomberg wants to expand the program citywide.

Police say a Bronx man was killed when he was struck by a car early Sunday morning. 27-year-old Kevin Bell of the Bronx was found by police lying on East 233rd Street in the Woodlawn section with trauma to his body around 3:30 a.m. EMS arrived to the scene and pronounced Bell dead upon arrival. Authorities have made no arrests and are still investigating.
