Krystal Crittendon has city council's "full support"

Posted: Updated:

City Council met with Detroit's top attorney Krystal Crittendon today behind closed doors to discuss her employment and the city's consent agreement with the state.

Crittendon has taken the state to court twice over the legality of the consent agreement, and both times the case was thrown out by a judge.

Mayor Dave Bing has called on Crittendon to resign, saying she is costing the city thousands of dollars. Mayor Bing released the following statement today:

"Corporation Counsel's actions have cost the city money - as of June 27 the city's interest rate on its $80 million bond has increased from 2.8% to 6.25%, increasing the city's borrowing cost by an additional $10,000 per day."

Council President Charles Pugh says Crittendon is following the city charter, and she has full council support.
