The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) decided to post a new survival guide... for weddings.
The public health matters blog post went up on July 9th. It is tagged under the Natural Disasters category, along with others.
It gives planning tips, including having a bridal kit with safety pins, makeup and "maybe a few sedatives." It recommends visiting FEMA's Ready.gov site for an emergency kit list.
The posting by Caitlin Shockey goes on to say: "Being in the throes of wedding season, many of us here at CDC realized that planning for a wedding isn't that much different from planning for a disaster."
The CDC also recommended having a plan for contacting guests in the event of an emergency. It even suggests having extra umbrellas for the wedding party.
The survival guide goes on to remind happy couples to have a plan in place in case there is a tornado warning during the wedding. It recommends asking the reception venue for their emergency plans and evacuation routes before the event.
