TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- An American man who grew up in Israel is testifying that he sold his kidney on the black market after answering an ad in an Israeli newspaper.

The man is testifying at the sentencing hearing of Levy Izhak Rosenbaum of Brooklyn in Trenton federal court.

Rosenbaum has pleaded guilty to brokering three illegal kidney transplants for New Jersey-based customers in exchange for payments of $120,000 or more.

Earlier Wednesday, a doctor with Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia testified that Rosenbaum brought 12 to 15 pairs of donors and recipients to the hospital for transplants between 1999 and 2002.

The physician, Radi Zaki testified that Rosenbaum presented himself as a legitimate facilitator of donor matches for Israeli patients.
