1 dead after motorcycle crash

A motorcyclist is dead after a crash involving a car in Long Island on Monday morning.

Police say that Francis Stanuch, 40, of Smithtown, was riding his 2012 Honda motorcycle on Oakside Dr. at about 8 a.m.

Officers say that Eric Gismervik was driving a 1990 Ford and turned onto the street, hitting Stanuch.

Stanuch was thrown from his bike by the force of the crash.  He was transported to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown but it was too late. 

Police say the investigation is ongoing.  If you have any information,  call 631-854-8452.
