Brooklyn man charged with sexually abusing 2 girls

Police say they have arrested a registered sex offender for allegedly inappropriately touching two young girls last month inside a Queens library.
49-year-old Joel Grubert of Greepoint, Brooklyn, was seen on a surveillance video groping the 6-year-old and 9-year-old girls around 6:20 p.m. on June 23. The assualt occured inside the Queens Library branch at 41-17 Main Street in Flushing.
A tip received by the NYPD identified Grubert as the suspect, according to police.
Grubert has been charged with sex abuse and endangering the welfare of children.
The New York Post said records show that in 2004, Grubert was convicted of possessing child pornography and he has also served time behind bars for attempted kidnapping.

The van rear-ended a Taxi and Limousine Commission vehicle at the corner of Church Ave. and Utica Ave. at about 7:45 a.m., said police. One of the pedestrians that was struck by the van was taken to Brookdale Hospital. Four other victims were taken to Kings County Hospital.
