New Yorkers continue to deal with the heat wave

MYFOXNY.COM -

New Yorkers are doing their best to beat the heat this weekend.

Residents in Brooklyn said the hot temperatures were downright tropical!

That's how many New Yorkers are describing Saturday's weather.

With temperatures well into the 90s, some places even hitting a 100 -- it definitely wasn't easy staying cool.

At Giglios Feast in Greenpoint, thousands packed the streets.

While vendors packed on the ice, for some much needed and high in demand -- cold drinks.

"I'm having some piña coladas and enjoying the company," said one resident at the festival.

In Midtown, the extreme heat caused a man hole fire. Outside Manhattan's Penn station, paramedics responded to a man collapsing.

When the heat index is between 90 and 105, heat stroke, heat exhaustion and heat cramps are common -- so you have to take it easy.

But not everyone can just relax.

"It's so hot in here I'm melting," said another Greenpoint resident.

Temps really hit a boiling point at big Pete's Zeppole stand. However Big Pete himself didn't mind a bit.

"This festival is 125 years old, I enjoy seeing people smile," said Pete.

Speaking of smiles, many say in this heat the only way you'll see one on their face is if the air conditioner is on full blast.
