Three people were injured in a biting and slashing attack at a New York City music festival.

It happened Friday night at Webster Hall during the CBGB Festival.

Police identified the slasher as Harley Flanagan, a former member of the band Cro-Mag.  They say he stabbed and bit current members of the band in the VIP room before they were set to perform.

Police say one person was slashed and two were bitten at around 9 p.m.  All of the victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital and are expected to survive.

Bands including Lido Beach, Diagnostics, Minshara and The Astronaut were on the roster. A late-night nightclub event was postponed and the venue was closed down after the incident.

The festival released a statement.

"Our primary concern is always the safety and experience of New Yorkers, music fans and the general public," the statement reads.

"We don't feel the actions of one person should overshadow four amazing days and nights of events."

The weekend festival includes free concerts in Times Square and Central Park.
