New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie wasn't keeping his words soft and sweet in a verbal exchange that was caught on tape on the Jersey shore Thursday night.

According to video obtained by TMZ, Christie was walking the boardwalk in Seaside Heights when a man made negative remarks about the governor's policy on education.

On the video, you can see Christie shouting back at the man saying, "You're a real big shot -- you're a real big shot shooting your mouth off."

The man told Christie to just take care of the teachers when Christie started to approach the man.

Christie said: "Keep walking away, really good, keep walking."

A member of Christie's group then escorted the governor away from the situation.

Christie is often mentioned as a top contender for the Republican vice presidential nomination.
