Free water, ice offered to W. Bloomfield residents without power

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Residents without power in West Bloomfield are being offered relief in the form of free water and ice.

FOX 2's Al Allen reports residents can pick up the items Friday at local fire stations, township hall (4550 Walnut Lake Road) and the Jewish Community Center (6600 West Maple Road).

West Bloomfield was one of the harder hit areas following storms earlier this week that knocked out power to over 200,000 home. DTE Energy says Friday morning that about 105,000 of its customers were still without power.

Friday's forecast calls for temperatures to hit or surpass 100 degrees.

Firefighters also tell residents with generators to make sure they are run outdoors and are well ventilated in order to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
